CONGRATULATIONS TO Ken Horan !

GRIMSBY kickboxer John Lee admitted his European title defeat on Sunday night was by far the toughest fight of his career. “He was really strong coming forward and very fit. He is definitely the toughest opponent I’ve faced in my career."

Ken Horanlifted another European title in an non stop 7 round brutal fight against local fighter John Lee from Grimsby for the vacant title. From the first bell, Ken started like a man out of a sprint block and finished the same way at the end of the 7th and final round. It really is a testimony to the 40 year old's fitness and heart. He out worked John Lee not allowing the Englishman time to throw his trademark right hand. After 7 round of fast and furious action Horan won on a unanimous points decision.

South African Rugby Team with GCG Manager.

We are proud of the feel good buzz in our gym. There is no ageism, sexism, racism, elitism, just serious fun and serious results in a friendly ambience. Whether you want general fitness/conditioning, strenght, size, sport specific, speed, stamina, power, core - WE HAVE THE PROGRAMME FOR YOU!

Galway City Gym is the West of Ireland's longest established gym , having been founded in 1986. It was set up as a not-for profit organization which is owned by the members themselves and run , on their behalf by a Board of Directors elected by the members. The Gym moved to its present site at Town Park Centre in 1989.

Galway City Gym provides a wide range of facilities and its membership ranges from elite athletes such as Olympic sprinter, Paul Hession to men and women of all ages and walks of life who are endeavoring to acquire and maintain some degree of health and fitness. The club has been the training base for the touring Australian Rugby Union team 1992 and more recently by the South African World Rugby Champions. Warren Gatland trained his Connaught Rugby side at Galway City Gym and Eddie O'Sullivan, one of Ireland's most successful coaches, still trains here.

While GCG provides excellent facilities for members who are interested in competitive weightlifting and bodybuilding and boasts a succession of National , European and World Champions in both Powerlifting and Olympic Lifting it also caters for the majority of people who wish to avail of our facilities and trained staff to achieve their own goal , whether this be to improve their all round fitness , to lose weight or just to look better and boost their self-confidence. Thus, there is a variety of jogging, rowing , cycling and cross-training machines for improving cardiovascular and pulmonary fitness as well as a range of weights machines for the firming of body shape and strengthening of muscle and bone .

Above all, Galway City gym is a real club where people know each other and enjoy an easy friendship and camaraderie. We own our club and we want everyone to enjoy the facilities and the friendly atmosphere.

Congratulations to D.Geler !!
